Andy+Hannah | Red Barn Events | Topeka KS Wedding Photographer
Andy and Hannah define adventurous couples in love and this is everything I hope for when I photograph couples! They celebrated their love for each other with a Catholic ceremony at St. Matthew Catholic Church followed by a reception at the wonderful Red Barn Events!
Andy and Hannah first met in college when they were both working at the Derby Dining Center for the dorms at Kansas State University. Andy initially thought Hannah disliked him, but after they broke the ice and started talking, they really hit it off!
After dating for some time, Andy and Hannah were planning a trip for Spring Break, but Andy wouldn’t tell her where they were going until the day before they left! They visited several places, one of which included the Grand Canyon. When they were there, they stood on the edge of the Grand Canyon and Andy was making small talk about their current adventure. Then he said something to the effect of “You know what else is an adventure?!” Andy got down on one knee and proposed right there!
Fifteen months after Andy’s proposal, their wedding day was finally here! The day began with everyone getting ready at the church. My assistant and I started capturing the getting ready process and the details of Andy and Hannah’s wedding — her incredible dress and shoes, the gorgeous bouquets made entirely from their family friend’s garden, Hannah’s heirloom jewelry that completed the age-old tradition of having something old, new, borrowed, and blue!
Then I started with the Andy and his grooms-people for a few group and individual photos! Hannah and Andy opted to keep tradition and not see each other before the ceremony!
So after Andy was back in hiding, it was Hannah and the bridesmaids turn for photos! Hannah did do a first look with her dad and oh my goodness the love and emotion was beautiful!
It was quickly time for the ceremony at the beautiful St. Matthew Catholic Church!
After the ceremony, we all headed to Red Barn Events for their reception! Hannah and Andy did a wonderful job decorating the venue!
Before the guests arrived, the wedding party and I had some fun with photos! And we also captured a few beautiful bride and groom portraits of Hannah+Andy!
Their reception was off to a perfect start! Dinner, drinks, cake and dancing were in full swing!
As the sunset was approaching, and the golden hour lighting was upon us, I asked Andy and Hannah if they would be willing to step outside for a few golden hour and sunset photos and I’m SO happy they were up for a few more photos — I am in love with the lighting we had on their wedding day and to top it all off, they got a pretty awesome sunset too!
After capturing more hilarious dance moves on the dance floor, it was time for Andy and Hannah to say farewell to their guests and get ready for their honeymoon the next day. They decided to do a sparkler exit from their reception!
