Flint Hills Discovery Center Wedding | Dave+Jordan

Dave and Jordan’s wedding at the Flint Hills Discovery Center was phenomenal — even despite the weather!  I have to hand it to Jordan for being an extremely relaxed bride.  She was calm and happy to celebrate her wedding regardless of the last-minute changes that included changing the time and location of the ceremony, but more on that later!

They first met at Aggie Station.  It used to be a gastro pub in Aggieville but has closed since then.  He was working as a cook and she was waitressing at the time.  Hanging out after work is really what kicked off the relationship — in no time, Jordan was head-over-heels for Dave!  Jordan says that some of the nights working at Aggie Station and partying there afterword were some of the happiest and funnest nights!

Fast forward to their trip to Colorado together.  They had went to Telluride to see one of his favorite bands in concert.  On one day of their trip, Dave convinced Jordan to go with him and couple of his friends to see a waterfall.  Even though at that time of year, the waterfall was merely a trickle of water, the scenery was still breath-taking.  They were surrounded by huge beautiful mountains all around them and the weather was gorgeous.  They were taking it all in and suddenly Dave drops down on one knee and his friends pull out their cameras and start taking pictures.  Jordan then realized that it had all been set up for her, immediately started to cry, and followed soon after with a very excited “YES!”  It was a very special moment for Dave and Jordan and couldn’t have been more perfect.  The rest of that evening, Jordan was prancing around with her ring held high to show it off to everyone!

Their wedding day started with Jordan and her mother getting hair and make up done at Platinum & Company.  After which, Jordan joined the bridesmaids at the Flint Hills Discovery Center where they finished getting ready for the wedding!  And before we get to far into reliving their wedding day, I should, (as Chris mentioned in his speech), “address the elephant in the room”.  Jordan didn’t have a traditional maid of honor — instead she had a “Man of Honor”, Chris, who was an incredible Man of Honor throughout the entire day.  Whether it was running back to fetch the bouquet, or stand in the rain and hold an umbrella for the bride and groom, Chris was happy to help out!  So thank you Chris!

 

 

Dave and Jordan had envisioned outdoor bridal and wedding party portraits in the courtyard next to the Flint Hills Discovery Center as well as pictures on the terrace, but unfortunately, the weather wasn’t going to cooperate with us for most of the day.  Thankfully, the Flint Hills Discovery Center has absolutely beautiful windows and natural lighting paired with gorgeous limestone — so we had a perfect place for indoor portraits!

 

 

After their separate portraits, it was finally time for Dave and Jordan to see each other!  Their first look was so cute!  And luckily after their first look, the rain held off enough for us to go out into the courtyard for a few bride and groom portraits!

 

 

Dave and Jordan’s wedding ceremony was originally supposed to be on the terrace at the Flint Hills Discovery Center, but because of the rain, it got pushed back almost 1.5 hours so they could move the set up to the indoor location on the main level.  Guests were able to enjoy cocktails and appetizers while they were waiting for the ceremony, so it ended up working out very well!  And it gave us time to take family portraits and the wedding party portraits!  And luckily, the rain took a break for a few minutes which gave us enough time to go out on the terrace to get some fun wedding party photos!

 

 

After the ceremony, guests found their seats for dinner and the reception started soon after!  The best man and man of honor gave great toasts to the bride and groom, Dave and Jordan cut into their amazing (and insanely delicious) cake from Bourbon & Baker, then they had their first dance with each other and started the party and dancing with everyone after that!  Their guests were great dancers which made for a lively party to end their wonderful wedding day!
