Kyle+Sarah | Spring Topeka Wedding | Countryside United Methodist Church & Heritage Hall
Kyle & Sarah celebrated their spring Topeka wedding with a ceremony at Countryside United Methodist Church followed by a reception at Heritage Hall. Their wedding day was nothing short of perfect! The weather even cooperated all day long. Something that I can’t say has happened at numerous weddings so far this year! We’ll get into all the details of their wedding day shortly, but first, let’s rewind to when it all began!
They first met at a wedding when they were being setup by the bride and groom. Sarah worked with the bride and Kyle worked with the groom. They both thought Kyle and Sarah would be a good fit for each other because they were both similar in several ways! The day of their friend’s wedding, Sarah was nervous to meet Kyle and wondered if it would be awkward. When Sarah first saw Kyle, she knew he was who she had been looking for! They hit it off at the wedding and have been dating ever since!
In May 2016, Kyle and Sarah were getting ready to move into their first house together. It was the first day they had the keys; Sarah and her mom had been painting most of the day. Her mom suggested that Sarah go home, relax, and finish up the next morning. She agreed and went home to find Kyle already off work. He suggested that they go out to dinner that night to celebrate her upcoming birthday, but first wanted to stop at the house and see how the painting was coming along.
They drove to the house, and when they got there, Sarah noticed that the lights were on and there was music playing, and thought she surely hadn’t left them on from earlier that day, but she wasn’t quite sure! As she went inside, she saw a table and bench in their otherwise empty living room, two wine glasses filled with her favorite wine, and pictures of them hung in chronological order on the walls. At that point, Sarah was in complete shock and she isn’t one who is easily surprised! Kyle then told her that he wanted to do something special for her birthday so she should start by sitting down and having a glass of wine. After she sat down, he had her stand back up because there was “one more thing”, then he grabbed the ring box and proposed. She said yes and was instantly crying the happiest tears of her life! And if Kyle hadn’t already pulled off a perfect proposal, he then had his family and her family show up a little later to celebrate and have dinner with everyone together!
Finally, it was time for their wedding day. the ladies were getting ready at the Capitol Plaza Hotel. Kyle and Sarah’s spring Topeka wedding was actually my third wedding in two days, but that didn’t mean I was any less excited for it! When I arrived, the girls were already done with hair and make-up and were wearing adorable jean shirts that were embroidered with their initials! My assistant and I grabbed a few detail photos of Sarah’s dress, jewelry and shoes. Then it was time for Sarah to get into her wedding dress — Mom and sister were a great help! I was in awe of how stunning Sarah looked (and we were running ahead of schedule — a rarity on a wedding day), so we took a few bridal portraits in her hotel room. Sarah certainly makes a beautiful bride!
We all carpooled to the church and started with bridal portraits as well photos with her bridesmaids.
When we were done, the ladies hid in a different area of the church as the men arrived. Then it was their turn for photos!
It was finally time for Kyle and Sarah’s first look! I got Kyle set in the garden area just outside of the church, and gave Sarah a few instructions as she prepared their first look! It was cute how excited and anxious she was to see him — and it was equally adorable that parents and bridesmaids watched with excitement from the church window! Isn’t Kyle’s reaction priceless? I love his facial expressions and how big of a hug he gave her!
We were then ready for family portraits which we did at the altar of the church — as we arranged each group, Kyle’s cousins were “oohing and ahhing” in the pews — they were so fun to listen to! It was wonderful to meet and get to know both Kyle and Sarah’s family! They are definitely so fortunate to be surrounded by such wonderful people!
Kyle and Sarah had a few minutes to relax and then we were ready for the ceremony! Countryside United Methodist Church certainly provided us with a beautiful setting for their ceremony!
Following the ceremony, Kyle, Sarah, and the wedding party loaded onto the party bus and enjoyed a few beverages!
We arrived at Ward Meade Park, where we took a few fun wedding party photos and then some bride and groom portraits!
Their guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers at the reception and then the wedding party arrived shortly after! The reception kicked off after a delicious dinner and it was a phenomenal party!
To Kyle+Sarah — THANK YOU for trusting me to capture your wedding day, it was truly an honor! You are both amazing individuals and together you make a kind, genuine, and awesomely fun couple! Can’t wait to see where this journey takes you next!
