Manhattan KS Engagement | André+Vicki

André and Vicki had their Manhattan, KS engagement session last week!  I can honestly say that I don’t have many couples that know the forecast says 20-30mph winds on the day of their engagement session and are still excited to have their session!  But I was pleased that they were still up for it!  For locations, they chose to use the downtown area of Manhattan to include the historic limestone and brick buildings as well as the scenic overlook to include the native prairie during their Manhattan KS engagement session!

André and Vicki met 7 years ago on a blind “friends” date.  André worked with her best friend’s husband at the time, and the three of them went to lunch and were talking about the upcoming work Christmas party.  André asked Vicki’s friend if she had any single friends that she thought would go to the Christmas party with him.  She said she did (and of course had Vicki in mind)!  Vicki’s friend called her later that night and Vicki thought it sounded like fun and agreed to go with him.  André and Vicki hit it off that night and continued to talk as friends until their first official date 4 months later.  They went to dinner at Old Chicago on their first date and have been inseparable since then!

After dating for 4 ½ years, Vicki scheduled them to get couples photos since they had never had any professional pictures done together before.  They were getting photos taken in October.  André had bought the ring back in August and had planned to propose to Vicki at the finish line of a half marathon that they were running together in November.  After a few months of training, he decided that the finish line idea wasn’t going to work because she would always out run him on their training runs and he wasn’t sure that they would be crossing the finish line together!

When Vicki was explaining the photo session to André; she let him know that they would be doing sunset photos at the end of their session.  André ended up contacting the photographer to let her know that he was going to propose to Vicki at the end of the session!  So on the day of the photos, when Vicki thought they were finished, André got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked Vicki to marry him!  She was in shock and admits it was truly one of the best days of her life!
