A Sunrise Wedding | Matthew+Mariah | Emporia, KS

Happy Anniversary to Matthew + Mariah!  They celebrated their marriage with a serene sunrise wedding at the Flint Hills Bible Church in Emporia, KS.  When Mariah first contacted me, I was immediately excited about their idea for a sunrise wedding!  Mariah is an aspiring photographer, so I already felt a little extra pressure to create awesome images for them!

I arrived at the wedding venue well before sunrise where Matthew and Mariah were separately getting ready for their first look with each other.  We went out at sunrise for their first look — we were hoping for a typical gorgeous Kansas sunrise, but we were welcomed with a moodier sky.  It ended up being absolutely perfect though, we just created some more dramatic images to match the sky!

They were so sweet during their first look with each other!  After the first look, we moved to a few bride and groom portraits while everyone else finished getting ready for the day!  I love the even lighting that the overcast sky created for us during these images!

Did I mention the moody sky?  Love the clouds in these images paired with Matthew+Mariah’s love!

After the fun of the wedding party photos, it was time to get inside for their ceremony, which was preceded by a wonderful prayer session with this group of gorgeous ladies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I cannot get over just how beautiful this cake is!  The style is called a “naked cake” and I think they’re absolutely gorgeous!

 

After toasts, guests were mingling and snacking on breakfast hors d’oeuvres, so we snuck outside for a few more bride and groom photos!

The morning ended with such a cute send off using bird seed!  Congratulations on your 1-year anniversary Matthew+Mariah!  Thank you for letting me capture your amazing sunrise wedding!
